Red Cardinal Snapshot

WHAT IT DOES

Anduril builds autonomous defense systems — drones, interceptors, undersea vehicles, sensor towers, and a fighter-sized robot wingman — all run by one software brain called Lattice, which fuses sensors and directs machines the way an operating system runs apps.

HOW IT MAKES MONEY

By selling finished products to militaries. That sounds obvious, but it inverts sixty years of defense economics: the legacy primes bill the government 'cost-plus' — costs reimbursed, profit margin added — to develop what the government specified. Anduril spends its own investors' money to build products first, then sells them like a commercial company. If the product wins, margins are its reward; if it flops, the loss is private.

WHY WE TRACK IT

Anduril is the live experiment inside our rearmament thesis: whether venture-funded product development can beat requirement-driven procurement at scale. Every legacy prime we cover — and the multiple the market pays for each — quietly depends on the answer.

THE SIMPLE THESIS

The hardware is the delivery mechanism; Lattice, the autonomy software layer, is the moat. If Anduril's model works, defense margins migrate from managing government programs to owning software — and the Ukraine-proven currencies of war, attritable drones and air defense, are exactly the products it builds.
