Red Cardinal Snapshot

WHAT IT DOES

Eaton makes the equipment that moves electricity safely from where it's generated to where it's used: switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, voltage regulators, uninterruptible power supplies, and the distribution gear inside buildings, factories, data centers, and the grid itself. A separate aerospace segment supplies hydraulic, fuel, and power systems to aircraft makers.

HOW IT MAKES MONEY

It sells that equipment to utilities upgrading the grid, contractors wiring data centers and factories, and building owners electrifying everything from heating to vehicle charging — project-driven equipment sales layered over a large installed base that generates replacement, upgrade, and service demand for decades.

WHY WE TRACK IT

The electricity thesis says power is the binding constraint on the AI buildout. Eaton is the company that doesn't have to guess how that constraint gets resolved: whether the megawatts come from gas turbines, restarted nuclear plants, or solar farms, they all pass through switchgear, breakers, and transformers on the way to a load — and Eaton makes all of it.

THE SIMPLE THESIS

GE Vernova sells the generation, Quanta installs the wires, Vertiv cools the racks. Eaton sells everything the current touches in between — which means it collects on every new megawatt without having to pick the winning energy source.
