WHAT IT DOES
Tesla builds electric vehicles, grid-scale batteries (Megapack) and home batteries (Powerwall), and is trying to build two things that don't fully exist yet: cars that drive themselves with cameras alone, and humanoid robots that do useful work.
HOW IT MAKES MONEY
Today, mostly by selling cars, with energy storage a fast-growing second line and software (Full Self-Driving subscriptions, supercharging, services) layered on top. The valuation, however, is mostly a bet on businesses that don't yet generate meaningful revenue: robotaxis and robots.
WHY WE TRACK IT
Tesla is the cleanest live experiment in a question that runs through everything we cover: can a decade of narrative capital — funding raised on story-driven valuations — keep out-running execution reality? Its Megapack business also plugs directly into our electricity thesis: storage is the fastest-deploying asset on a grid that suddenly needs every megawatt.

One ticker, three businesses: a car company that exists and is under siege, an energy business that works and is under-noticed, and an option book on autonomy and robots where the valuation actually lives.
