Vertiv builds the equipment inside a data center that most people never think about: the systems that take electricity from the grid, condition it, back it up, distribute it to the racks, and then remove the heat those racks throw off. Power distribution, uninterruptible power supplies, and thermal management — the plumbing of compute.
HOW IT MAKES MONEY
It sells that equipment to hyperscalers, colocation operators, and enterprises building or upgrading data centers, then earns a second, steadier stream from servicing it — because a cooling failure in an AI hall is measured in minutes, owners pay Vertiv to maintain what Vertiv installed.
WHY WE TRACK IT
Every megawatt the electricity thesis delivers has to pass through Vertiv's category of equipment before it reaches an NVIDIA rack. And as AI racks get denser, air cooling physically stops working — the shift to liquid cooling is a structural upgrade cycle, and Vertiv co-authors the reference designs.
